Integra Xenon Hid Xenon 55w HID Light Kit, Are there heat isuues?
I really need some help here, especially facts. I have a Acura Integra which comes stock with a projector lens and 55w halogen bulb. I want to replace them with HIDs but I'm afraid that a 35w kit is too dim. However, I know a 35w kit will not melt my housing, but I'm wary of what a 55w light will do.
Does anyone know the operating temps of 55w HID vs 55w Halogen? I need any and all help on this one. Post links, opinions, and your personal experiences. Thanks!
Also, I know that the actual elements in the HID bulb burn at about 1500 degrees F, but the bulb itself doesn't get that hot. I've been searching the web but can't find much. Help me out!
Wasn't that one of the selling point of HID.....lower current flow......lower heat....higher lumens. The only thing I'd be concerned about here is that your HID bulbs will be longer that stock and thus closer to your projector lenz....if its glass you'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about melting your housing though as I think a halogen 55w burns hotter that a HID 55w. What kelvin are you going with? 5000k has the most light but 10 or 120000k look steller.
High Intensity Discharge HID lights, also known as Xenon lights, produce a bright light resulting from an electric arc inside a capsule full of Xenon gas. Many times, HID lighting appears to give off a bluish tint when the bulbs are lit. This technol
"HID Lights are a great way to give your vehicle custom ultra-bright headlights. You just replace your factory headlights bulbs with the HID kit. HID kits burn a lot hotter than your factory bulbs, and are therefore brighter. The wattage, which indicates the heat and therefore color, ranges from 6000k up to 10000k for APS HID lights, with 10000k being the hottest. The 6000k is an amber/yellow tint, the 8000k is closer to white, and the 10000k has a blue tint. High Intensity Discharge (HID) is the latest technology in automotive lighting. It replaces the filament of the light bulb with xenon gas by utilizing the gas discharge principle, an arc of light is created between two electrodes in a small capsule filled with a mixture of xenon gas and halide salts. When high voltage is applied, the gas is ignited to produce an arc of light."
