Would missing ionizing wires and pre-filters cause an electronic furnice filter not to power on?

I have just purchased a new home and with it has come an electronic furnace filter attached to my furnace. It is a Trion MAX4 model:TRIMT WA.
Both Input (green) and output (Red) voltage LED's do not light up whether the unit is turned on or off and the furnace fan is running. There is also no "ticking" noise and I can tell you that the filters are definitely dirty.
I check inside and I am missing the two pre-filters and 5 ionizing wires. Would this cause the unit to not power-up? Should I buy the wires and pre-filters or a whole new unit?

The pre-filters are there to take out the bigger dust. Then the wires collect the small dust by creating a charge that attracts the dust. It can't work without the wires. If it looks in good shape otherwise I would get new wires and filters. If it looks really old an dfilthy it may be better to replace the entire thing. I had a Sears model and it didn't work well at all. I went back to regular filters.

Acoustic guitar and piano predominate the closing ballad, "Love Is Green"; Beck's electric solo gracefully massages the quiet timbres. Wired is well balanced by looser, riff-oriented material and Walden's more intricate compositions. Walden and Hammer give Wired a '70s-era jazz-rock flavor that is indicative of their work with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Bascomb's throw-down, "Head for Backstage Pass," finds Bailey skillfully navigating the mixed meters while Beck counters with a dazzling, gritty solo. Hammer's "Blue Wind" features an infectious riff over which Beck and Hammer trade heated salvos. As good as "Blue Wind" is, it would have benefited from the Walden/Bascomb rhythm section and a horn arrangement by Martin. One of Wired's finest tracks is an arrangement of Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat." Beck's playing is particularly alluring: cleanly ringing tones, weeping bends, and sculpted feedback form a resonant palette. Bailey and Middleton lend supple support. Within a two-year span, the twin towers Blow by Blow and Wired set a standard for instrumental rock that even Beck has found difficult to match. My bulb fused for no reason!?

Okay. So today I wanted to do a science project regarding electricity. I cut open a pre-existing torchlight to save on costs and got 5 bright LEDs from it. They were wired in parallel and there were 4 LR44 1.5 volt button cells inside. Since the bulbs were in parallel, I assume that each bulb can take the 6 volts in total? Then, I got a D size battery holder and 4 D batteries. I wired everything correctly, and since D's were also 1.5 volts, I see no reason why the bulb should fuse. I was testing all 5 bulbs I had, then...

Boom, one of the bulbs just started going green, then yellow, then nothing. (They are white LEDs). The bulb looks fused so WHY???

Okay, SOOO well the torch was basically just 5 LEDs with a metal casing forming part of the circuit. I tried the remaining 4 LEDs with 2 batteries and they work fine. Thanks guys!

Did you put a resistor between the LED and the power source?

You basically discharged the current stored in four batteries through an LED (which has low resistance in one direction, but high resistance in the other).

That LED will never work again.

I don't really do animation and such but you might try just putting each image into it's own picture box and then only have one visible at any given time. All you then need is a timer. Each cycle of the timer it hides the current visible image and makes the next one visible.

First of all what is LED light? LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which sounds pretty cool. The technical bit is that the LED light is a semiconductor, which converts electricity to light using the movement of electrons! Scanner Purple

Why does my printer have a purple hue to it?

I recently bought a canon pixma mp250 all-in-one photo printer (scanner, printer, etc.) in order to print pictures. I have to scan the pictures into my computer then print. When I scan the pictures, they look good on the computer and the color is right, but when I print, they either come out really dark or if I try to adjust the brightness, they come out looking purple. What am I doing wrong?
Oh and it only seems to print with a purple tint when its a photo being scanned. I thought it might be the ink in general, but it prints a document with words just fine.
I don't think the ink has been left out to dry -- I just bought it two days ago (the printer that is).

There are only 2 cartridges - one black and one color. Maybe I just need a better printer.

I was hoping there was some specific way to calibrate the printer -- I understand some "computer talk" but after attempting to research this online, if anyone could dumb it down for me, that would be very helpful!

Photograph Negatives Explained

The concept of photo negatives can be confusing. You see them in film developing centers, cameras, and photo envelopes, but you may not understand them. So what exactly are photographic negatives and why are they used? Hopefully this article will shed some light on the subject, so to speak.

A photo negative image is an exact copy of a normal image, but the colors and tones are reversed. I'm sure you've seen the reddish film strips that come with developed photos in envelopes. Those are negatives. If you want more copies of your photos you take them from the negatives. Look at them and you'll notice that the bright and dark tones are reversed and the colors are opposite as well. What should be blue is yellow, what should be purple is green, and so on (based on the Red Green Blue color model).

Negative images are created by the film's chemical reaction to light. The unexposed chemicals wash away and the negatives become opaque, or seen through. To make a copy of a photograph from a negative, another negative is made off of that, actually creating a positive. This might remind you of algebra, where two negative numbers multiplied by each other become a positive. This is considered the two step process in photography. There are other processes such as positive, or slide, but the negative is the most common chemical based process.

The most common color negative film is called C-41. The negative is made up of different colored emulsions layered onto an acetate or polyester base. Each layer is sensitive to certain colors and underneath each layer are collodial silver or dye filters. When exposed each filter removes light and exposes the layer beneath it. When developed, the dye couplers inside of each emulsion layer produce the colors.

So why still use photo negatives when we now have scanners? Convenience and quality. Typically when you scan an image you'll lose detail, whereas with the negatives, you have entire original albums intact in a small envelope. If you have photograph negatives lying around that you'd like prints of, your best bet is taking them to a photo lab. You can scan negatives yourself though if you own a properly equipped digital camera or photo scanner. Most regular flatbed scanners won't do this, but with a fluorescent lamp and a high resolution scan you can manage it. Of course with the popularity of digital cameras photograph negatives are needed less and less. But it's still good to understand the basics of photo negatives.

I saw a plastic lure at wal-mart once that resembled a fly. The bug, not the feathered type of lure. It was about blue-bottle sized, and realistic. Soft Plastic with clear wings, black body.
