So, I've been looking into LED lighting, can I buy replacement bulbs for a floor lamp that use LED technology instead of halogen or fluorescent? I know LEDs can be too narrow (I installed them in my car) and was wondering if they would accurately replicate the amount of light given off by a conventional bulb, and if they would be a simple screw-in replacement with the old bulbs.
LED technology is not yet advanced enough to totally replace conventional light bulbs. I love LEDs more than anything, but am still waiting for them to get better.
Right now they are good for back lighting, under cabinet lighting or accent lighting. But they do not put out the amount of lumens that a conventional or compact fluorescent bulb can.
Many manufacturers are stating that their LED replacement bulbs are putting out an equal amount of lumens, but the bottom line is that they are actually just not as bright.
Also the price is way too high for a good quality bulb right now.
Stick with compact fluorescent bulbs until the LEDs get a bit better and cheaper.

The Halos are LED the yellow colour comes from you headlight bulb being Halogen. In the P/Heads picture that had a HID conversion on it thats why it has the blue/white tinge.
Either get some Philips Blue vision bulbs or splash out on a HID conversion kit.

What are the chances of getting pulled for foreign (JDM) non-HID headlights?
I'm considering to purchase a pair of JDM headlights with white beams, but am concerned about the legality. They are not HID, however, according to the seller they are not DOT/SAE approved. What are the chances I'll get pulled over for these?

Who knows? You may or may not be stopped by a police man who is interested in your headlights. The biggest concern is the alignment. If they are notably high or low they could easily attract police attention. I saw a driver stopped for a set of Lucas 'Flame Thrower' driving lights because he wouldn't cut them for approaching traffic, one of which was a state trooper. However, if they're not DOT approved there's always a chance they'll catch them on the safety inspection and flunk you.
