Rear bumper red light question?

Occasionally I see unusually bright red rear bumper lights in the Lexus and I believe the Olds Aurora. They may be called rear bumper fog lights. Might you know the wattage and type of bulbs used. These were not LED however. They were about as bright as most stop lights. Also, might you know of a set of tail light bulbs I once saw on a Dodge truck. They were bright like a stop light when the parking lights were on and much brighter when brake was used. Guy said they were DOT legal. I thought he said Werner or Warner but no joy locating.

Wrecked fzr, rebuid HELP?

ok so im going to be posting alot because im ah+hhh novice in the area of bike repair and modofication. Basically I wiped out on my 92 fzr streetfighter. Heres what needs to ve replaced:
Both handlebars
Crank case (i think tjsts what its called, its on the right and the oil spilled out, IS THIS the right name?
Rear fairings and tail lights
Ezhaust before the can has a dent but should be OK
Question: what of these parts are interchangable witg r6?ive got a 2000 yzf tank on there.
Also what rear fairinf assrmbly would fit? Because I dont want to shave fzr ones again.

You have a fair spread of damage there from bars to tail lights – the first thing to do would be to get the frame checked – if that is buckled or damaged then there is little point (economically) doing any repairs. Get it checked professionally – it is not something you can do by eye.

h4 xenon hid kit for a corolla?

i have a corolla, with headlights having only one bulb each. Im currently using the Philips x-treme power bulbs. although they are much better than oem they are not good enough in rain or wet roads. i live in a place with poor lighting conditions at night (rural and suburbs). i was wondering if its worth investing money on hid kits? i see so many different ones for sale everywhere. Im not sure which ones to avoid and which ones to buy. thanks.

Those Philips bulbs are not bad, but a conversion to HID will give around twice the light output. If you get a HID kit, get a decent quality kit - look at spending around £90 or $120 - cheaper kits may well fail or give problems.

Also, have a look at the lamps units, Check the reflectors are clean, not corroded, and that the lenses are clean inside and out. Also, check the bulbs are actually aimed at the road correctly - finding a suitable wall can help.

Mercedes E class lighting upgrade ?

i have a Mercedes Benz E280 CDI executive SE which i bought a few months ago, it does not come with the bi xenon headlamps (blue ones) instead it comes with ordinary ones which im not sure of their name. but i was wondering if it is possible to put on xenon headlamps as there some on sale for the e class even though it usually comes with bi xenons.

HIDs are brighter than ordinary, but come in various colours.

Factory standard is 4300 K (Kelvin) - white with yellow tint. Easily available is:
5000K - pure white
6000K - white with blue tint
8000K - stronger blue.

For a road car, a colour above 6000K is likely to get you stopped by police regularly.

The difference between xenon and bixenon is the bulb type. Bixenon (h4) bulbs are both dipped and main beam in the same bulb. Others are a single dipped OR main. A quick check shows your car probably uses H4, so you need a H4 halogen bulb, or a H4 bi-xenon HID conversion kit.

The bulbs in the ebay link are NOT HID Xenon. These are just standard halogen filament bulbs that are a bit brighter and whiter than standard. They are called xenon as they use some xenon gas, but are not the same thing as HID.

A decent HID conversion kit will include bulbs and a ballast to supply the 20,000 volts the bulbs need - expect to pay around £130. (http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h4-35w-proplus-bi-xenon-hid-conversion-kit.html). You can get cheaper on eBay, but quality varies.

A Xenon Upgrade bulb (halogen) is a direct replacement for your standard ones. Ring, Osram and Philips all make good quality ones. What is this called?.... (mechanical design of electronic equipment) ?

I have a problem, please read this and leave your suggestions. Any help will be apreciated

I plan to use 2 Surface mount (SMD) Light Emitting Diodes (LED) on a PCB. The PCB is about 12 mm from the panel of the enclosure . I need an optical path that will carry the light from the SMD to the panel of the enclosure.

I have seen some designers manage to do this using an acrylic cone/cylinder between the PCB and the Panel.

I don’t know what this is called….I need some literature about how to design this sort of optical path

Make sure the LED size fits the light pipe, Surface mount LED comes in different sizes for example 0603 or 0805

"xenon" incandescent bulbs? I'm confused?

I found replacement light bulbs on ebay for my motorcycle. they claim that they are xenon bulbs, but from the picture you can clearly see the incandescent filament inside. Isn't xenon bulb filled just with xenon gas without filament? This one just looks like a regular bulb painted blue on the outside.

that is correct bulb,, it is called xenon because of the effect when you turn it on.
white to blue effect illumination..
the same also on automotive headlight bulb. in fact you can use it for your car too and use car's head light can be use on big motorcycles using halogen lights.
what you showed is a halogen lights in blue color, the effect when ON, is white to blue, unlike the regular halogen-headlight bulb, it is kinda yellowish in colour..
what you should also consider is the bulb seat or base, some halogen bulbs have smaller seat with 3 tower to position upright the bulb. it is called H4 halogen, on more smaller halogen bulb, it is called H3, H2,,the one on the picture is H4-double filament, the size of early models of halogen, late models uses H3, single filament,

Cons of a cheap H11 xenon light bulbs for scion tC 08?

So i purchased an H11 Xenon Plasam Blue bulbs on ebay. They were very cheap, 8$ + 9$ for s&h. Its 10000k 12v/55w Halogen Lamp.

Thing is, they were so cheap, now that i received them i'm afraid that they might burn my headlight frame...

I did not purchase the HID kit, just the bulbs. Them being so cheap, you think that they might be bad for my projector headlights?
