Wiring LEDS Into A Car?

Alright I have done alot of led work on Xboxs and other gaming consoles. I have a very nice sound system, and i want to further that by adding LEDS to my car. The question I have is where would i connect for power?

Like scuba said, the LED's are most likely 3 volts so you will either need to wire 4 in series to make up the 12 volts, or you will need a resistor to make up the rest of the voltage, the easiest way is to run a cluster of 4, because 4 x 3 = 12, if you want more than 12 then you will need another cluster in parallel to the 12 volt source, and so on for however many you want.

Can you swap any 5mm LEDs and have them work just fine?

In my car I took apart part of the dash interface and on the circuit board it has white 5mm LEDs. I was wondering if I could un-solder them and solder on some blue 5mm LEDs.

How do I install a LED light system on my radio controlled car?

I'm young enough to probably be your son so please don't expect me to know how to this. I don't want to tell my dad to get my a LED when I don't know what to do with it, that would be a waste of his money. My car is a drift car 1:10 scale.

First you need to understand LEDs have a polarity, meaning if connected backwords, it won't work. On an LED the longer lead is the positive connection.

LEDs also need to be current limited so they won't burn up.

There are several things you need top know about the LED to use the right size current limiting resistor.
