Led Red Blue Red+ Blue LED Grow Light /OR/ blue day light, infrared heat light?
I currently have 2 beard dragons. I Breed my own crickets for them. I don't need help with that. I just ordered 4 1'x1'x1.5" Grow Lights. each has a mix of Red and Blue LED lights. plants need blue when they are growing and red when the plant is mature. So i know that when i grow my different types of mustard greens that they have both light spectrams. I want to know if the Blue day ligh for my lizards and the infrared heat light give off the same light spectrams. If the Grow lights do then i will be able to buy porsoline heat bulbes that produce no light and last longer and still provide the minerals/ vitamins my lizzards need to absord calsium and grow properly. Thx for any help you can provide.
the uvb and the blue day light provide some mineral that helps them absorb calcium. i know the ceramic will not emit anything but heat. but is it Absolutely necessary to have the blue day light or can i just use led and ceramic
The science of pets is fun isn't it? lol Firstly, i would say that one way or the other there is no general replacement for a UVB bulb (although some experts claim that an UVB bulb may not be necessary anyway; personally i'm not going to take chances). As far as whether the red and blue lights give off the same spectrum, definitely no. Now, for plants this will matter; for your dragons it mostly will not. The red, night bulb is mostly invisible to them, though i prefer a ceramic heat emitter for night time heat. I should mention that, from the wording of your question, it seems that you believe that a ceramic heat emitter "provides minerals/vitamins". I think you may be thinking of an UVB bulb, which does not so much 'provide' anything as much as allows for proper utilization of vitamin D3. The blue will simply be luminous. its not really just a bulb. just go to an autoparts store they got them and it fits on any car and its easy to install just mount it to the top of ur license plate and hook the wire to the license plate lights.
