Led Light How does the LED light in a Nintendo Wii change colors?
I always thought that there were three different color led's in close proximity to the light, and that they would just alternate, but I don't know if that's the case here.
You might be right - three separate LEDs used - but the most common size of LED is 5mm so I can't imagine them being used in the Wii as they might be too big. Maybe three miniature LEDs (at 2mm each), but my guess is that the Wii uses a bi-colour (or tri-colour) LED where two LEDs are in one case. They either light separately to make individual colours, or they light periodically (or together) to blend and make a third colour (red and green, for example, when lit together would make a yellowy/orange light).
As I've not taken my Wii apart to check I can't say for sure.

LED lighting is fast becoming standard in homes and business everywhere. LED lighting and light emitting diodes, are a smarter, more efficient way to light a room. Rather than using fragile filament power that burns out easily, LED lighting utilizes the movement of electrons for power and light. Built so that a great number of photons are released outward, the light from a diode is focused through the end of a plastic bulb which produces a bright light.
Because the power source or diodes are housed in plastic bulbs, LED lighting tends to be more easily protected than the older standard of fragile bulbs. LED lighting uses only about a third of the electricity needed to supply energy to traditional bulbs giving it longer life and providing almost 60,000 hours of light. Compared with only about 1,000 hours of light in incandescent lighting, this makes for a huge advantage.
LED lighting tends to mimic natural, outdoor light. This proves invaluable for the consumer and in case studies has been related to more alertness. LED lighting is also a mainstay for those suffering from SAD, a depression caused by lack of natural light in the winter months.
The greener way to go, LED lighting is not only cost effective, it uses less energy. LED bulbs stay relatively cool since they only utilize the diodes for light rather than relying on electricity that heats incandescent bulbs, as the filament must be warmed to produce light. Because the electricity used in LED lighting is being directly used for light this cuts down on energy demands considerably.

Led Light Bulbs Advice on household LED light bulbs -- general info, and where to buy?
I've got CFL's in most fixtures of my house and am pretty pleased. However, for some "high usage" rooms we are considering getting some LED bulbs for even more energy efficiency.
Please answer as many questions as you know
+ What is a reputable store that sells LED bulbs? Online is fine, although I would prefer not to buy off eBay or similar. Do you know of any stores that do sell LED bulbs, where I could go in and physically look at the packages? (I live in the US.)
+ Are there dimmable LED bulbs available? 3-way LED bulbs? Floodlight/outside LED bulbs?
+ In your experience, how "natural" is the light from an LED bulb?
Oh man, I've got answers for you....
I work for a company that HAS these bulbs, 2 years ahead of everyone else at this point, so feel free to contact us at the website below and see what we have to offer.
Dimming doesn't work very well on LED's, as it degrades the lifetime of the LED itself, not from the actual dimming, but from the physical action of dimming it, so if you are going to attach a dimmer switch, try to leave it in a stable position, rather than allowing anyone to brighten or dim it often. So far, no 3 way LED bulbs, but working on it.
Some of the lights are good for outdoor use, as they are unbreakable and water resistant, do not create heat, and function well under extreme conditions such as temperatures and weather. It's always a good idea, however, to protect your light fixtures as much as possible.
In my experience, the intensity of the light created by these LED bulbs is sufficient for either task or ambient lighting, but it doesn't feel natural...not yet! You could always put a salmon-coloured diffuser on it, though, which would augment the colouration and create a more natural effect. We're also working on that idea!

"LED lights are not dimmable as yet..." NOT true...you can either step down the voltage, say from a 12V to a 9V, and that will dim the lights, or you can affix a dimmer to them, effectively doing the same thing...it's the physical act of dimming them, however, that degrades the mechanism of the LED's, so try not to do it too often...either leave them dimmed, or only occasionally brighten or dim them!
"Led's do not throw light like a regular bulb"...this HAS been true, up till now, but we have a broad spectrum area light that truly lights up a 10' x 10' space...and the rest of your comments used to be true, as well, but there have been recent technological advancements that render them untrue at this point...

LEDs Offer More Efficient Technology than Incandescent Lights and CFLs According to LED-Expert.cn, LED bulbs are lit solely by the movement of electrons.
